In our small town, we celebrate our country's birth on the 3rd of July. That's because the fireworks technicians are booked at larger venues on the fourth. By celebrating on the third, we can schedule a top-notch show that might only be seen in a larger city. The other added benefit of celebrating on the third, is that we have an extra day to fully enjoy the festivities. It's like the whole weekend is the 4th of July.
Here are some scenes from last night. I will be sure to include some pictures of the girls in the next post.
UPDATE: I forgot to mention that I didn't have to haul any camera equipment around. I took these pictures standing in my back yard.

Wow you got some beautiful fireworks pix! Sure beats what I got on my iphone. LOL
Those are the best fireworks pictures I have ever seen!
These are beautiful pictures! When my adult son was growing up, We lived very close to Fort Bragg, Ca and Gureneville, Ca. Fort Bragg has a huge display on the 3rd, and Guerneville has a display the weekend before the 4th. They were both displayed over water, and I loved going to both, and then having the 4th in our yard. A whole week of celebration.
BTW I read your blog as often as you update it, but have a hard time posting responses because I do not use our google account any longer. Any chance of opening it up to others for responses?
These are just spectacular. Great shots - wow.
Happy 3rd and 4th!!
wow those are fabulous shots, I didn't take any camera with me...... and if I did they wouldn't have looked like that. I love the idea of a whole holiday weekend.
Great captures!
Cheers,
Anne
You are so lucky these are taken from your backyard! The whole series is beautiful! We didn't even bother to see fireworks this year, we were too tired from our camping trip :) Next year I am hoping to get some shots like these!
